Old tidbits that would have been news, had I posted them in a timely manner:

Tracks by the Magnetic Fields are popping up in interesting locations, for example...

* "Absolutely Cuckoo" is heard in the movie Someone Like You, which stars Ashley Judd and Greg Kinnear. (thanks to Scott Seymour)

* "When You Were My Baby" is featured in the soundtrack for the acclaimed lesbian comedy film Chutney Popcorn. (thanks to Liat Wexler)

* "Kiss Me Like You Mean It" is used in a commercial for Helzberg Diamonds. (thanks to Jesse Davis)

The book-on-tape version of The Bad Beginning by Lemony Snicket features the song "Scream and Run Away," performed by the Baudelaire Memorial Orchestra (Stephin Merritt and Daniel Handler). (thanks to Greta Quackenbush)

The Magnetic Fields performed in Lisbon on January 12, in Dublin at January 14, and at London's Lyric Hammersmith Theatre on January 17-20 for two complete performances of 69 Love Songs.  More recently, they played shows in Pittsburgh (Carnegie Mellon University, April 12), Washington, D.C. (9:30 Club, April 13), and Philadelphia (Trocadero, April 14).

The Three Terrors played a show of "their favorite songs from movieland...and beyond!" at the Knitting Factory on April 1.
