3. SOME SUMMER DAY

     Am:002210         F:133211
Some summer day, we'll dance again

     G:320033
and, come what may, I love you.

    F                     E:022100
Goodbye, my friend, goodbye.

Fly far away from vile abuse.
Some summer day I'll see you;
till then, refuse to sing.

5. POPPYLAND

     C:032010    G:320033     D:x00232   G
When black waves break on the world, you make

    C      G     D    G
the pieces go to Poppyland.

Wished-upon moonbeams and abandoned dreams,
they fall like snow in Poppyland.

Am:002210    C                  G   D
And when the bloom is off the rose,

Am        C                D
man, Poppyland is where it goes.

In the tame gray here, we all disappear,
but the walls have eyes in Poppyland.
All your favorite things are painted on the wings
of the butterflies of Poppyland.

And the people the gods forgive,
man, Poppyland is where they live.

(repeat two verses twice)

7. MARIA MARIA MARIA

              C:032010                   Am:002210
You'd better go or you'll be late for your train.

              C                        Am
Right about now, your husband is raising Cain.

Dm:x00231     F:133211            Gsus4:320013  G:320003
It's not psychosis, it's just fear,

Dm                 F      Gsus4  G
  but leave those roses here.

     C           Dm      F   Em:022000 C
(C): Maria Maria Maria Maria Mar - i - a,

                           Dm
will I only love you from afar,

                              C
like loving a cloud, loving a star?

            Dm      F   Em  G
Maria Maria Maria Maria Maria,

         G7:320001                    C      Am
will you never know how beautiful you are?

When I said why can't we just be together,
she waved goodbye and walked across the heather,
and then I took off my disguise.
I wonder if she ever cries.  (C)-no vocals

Dm           F           Gsus4  G
I wonder if she ever knew

Dm          F               Gus4  G
her lover was her husband too.

(C) then ends with a C chord.

9. THIS LITTLE UKULELE

Okay folks - this song, of course, was intended to be played on a
ukulele, but guitar tab is provided for those of you who do not
have a uke.

UKULELE TAB:
Okay, most of your soprano ukes are probably using the G-C-E-A
tuning.  If you want to be in the correct key, you need to capo
the 2nd fret.  Or, you can tune your uke up one whole step, or
just play and sing it using the G-C-E-A tuning as long as you
aren't playing along with the recording.  In that case, you will
be using the chords C (0003), F (2010), and G (0232) instead of
D, G, and A.

CAPO on 2nd fret

A-----------------------------------2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2------------------

GUITAR TAB:
You can play it with the fancy intro, or you can strum your way
through it (D, G, A).  If you're playing the intro, you need to
place a capo on the 7th fret; otherwise, you don't need a capo
and can use these chord fingerings:  D (x00232), G (320033), and
A (002220).

I wish I had an orchestra behind me

   D                  G   A
to show you how I feel.

          G                      D     A
Well, the orchestra remains imaginary,

         G                D (INTRO)
but this little ukulele's real.

I wish I had an orchestra behind me.
When you lose faith, an orchestra gives proof.
Well, an orchestra can tell you pretty stories,
but this little ukulele tells the truth.

11. TINY FLYING PLAYER PIANOS

G:320033             D:x00232
Tiny flying player pianos

Em:022000              C:032010
carried aloft on the breeze;

   G       D           C      G         Dsus4:x00233  D
as evening falls, they hang beneath the eaves.

  G                     D
I hear their tinkling cacophony

      Em                C
till, one by one, they sleep.

G       D             Em   C
Oh, if only I could sleep.

14. WATER TORTURE

  Bbm:113321               Db:443334
Lorraine MacLean's strange paintings

change the rain-stained Maine terrain.

              Ab
Paint rain, Lorraine.

"Teasing bees is easy," wheezed Louise.
"These bees are teased."
Tease these, Louise.

Jill's drill skills instill ill will.
A shrill trill fills the hills.
Drill still, li'l Jill.

Jo-Jo knows the snow slows,
no, no, Jo-Jo slows the snow.
Slow snow, Jo-Jo.

to tutus to lose the blues.
Glue, Lulu, glue.
